Special Tests for Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis elbow)


Tests for Tennis elbow (Lateral epicondylitis)


Test 1- Middle finger test

Patient position: Either supine lying or sitting

Therapist position: standing by the side of the patient

Procedure: Passively do extension of wrist with elbow at extension with one hand and place other hand over the elbow joint. While extending wrist press over the lateral epicondyle.

Positive sign: pain and tenderness over the lateral epicondyle.



Test 2- cozen’s test

Patient position: Either supine or lying.

Therapist position: standing by the side of the patient.

Procedure: Ask the patient to extend the middle finger actively and therapist should resist it.

Positive sign: Pain and tenderness over the lateral epicondyle.
